Though I prefer peace and quiet over protesting, I have been curious lately to see how these things go.  I have little trust in mainstream media.  So when I happened to pass through Toronto on February 5th, I decided to take a route which took me through downtown.   The first thing I noticed is that it was almost eerily quiet driving into the city on the QEW mid-morning.  At that time, the roads were quite empty.  I listened to AM 680 news on the way in. The radio was repeatedly warning medical professionals not to wear scrubs lest they be accosted, and advising people to avoid certain areas of Toronto. Though it was -10 C and sunny, the weather report was cautioning people to stay inside. There was a lot of repeated concern about the protest, and how it could be dangerous and cause many problems.  It sounded ominous. Most of us know vaccinated and unvaccinated people who are getting mildly ill with the Omicron variant. Some of us also know both vaccinated and unvaccinated people who are in the hospital. And yet we see governments doubling down on ideas of forced vaccination and calling out the unvaccinated more and more. Why does that not fit with what people are experiencing right now? Is there science behind still seeing vaccines as the way out of this? Why all the finger pointing when things seem to be changing so fast?  It is actually getting clearer and clearer that vaccination is not nearly as relevant as it once was. The supply chain must have been moving again, because after six months, a set of back-ordered struts for our family vehicle were finally in. I knew, however, that promises rang hollow when the service manager called me. Tuesday was not going to work, but if they got me in first thing Thursday, “You should be through in a couple hours.”  The dealership is too far for a shuttle, so I brought my laptop, put in my headphones, and got some work done.  Over the years, I have learned that things in North Bay usually move slowly.   It was going relatively well. To be clear, the intention of this post is not meant to compel readers towards one position on the permissibility of vaccines that have involved the use of fetal cells. This was not written to point fingers.  This post engages with both arguments and counter-arguments.  Part one of this series was on Christian liberty , and I do recognize that many Christians use vaccines in good conscience.  They recognize degrees of separation from some of these issues.  If you can use vaccines that are ethically grey in their development, I would hope that Romans 14:22 applies to you, “Do you have faith? Have it to yourself before God.
